Description
2004-2006 Pontiac GTO Vararam Ram Air GTO-SDR Cold Air Intake.
We set our design target to support 800hp/ 500 cu inch and 7000+RPM, all while keeping the system easy to install and making it a TRUE cold air system that breathes better when the hood is CLOSED vs. Open on a dyno.
This is the only air intake system that utilizes the factory hood air inlets to truly create a RAM AIR situation.

Vararam SDR, "The Tiger Lives!"
I looked and studied countless hours trying to find the right "Cold air intake" for my GTO and finally decided on the Vararam SDR. The way that this system blocked off the engine heat to the relocated MAF inside the cold air flow of the filter plenum just made sense to me and I hadn't seen any other system do this. The install was pretty easy, straight forward and went right with the instructions, having to cut the radiator shroud for airflow for the system made me cringe, but everything went in pretty easily. As soon as i started the car for the first time i could hear a difference in the air flow getting sucked in. The first time opening the engine up on the road I could hear and feel the difference. I don't have anyway of actually plotting the data for the change in performance, but i can just feel the difference, "the tiger is alive". Well its been a few months now and the only down side to the installation of the SDR in my GTO was the almost immediate drop of about 4-5 mpg on the cars MPG computer. I wasn't expecting this and still not sure what caused the drop, whether it's the moving of the MAF into the cold or just my foot getting heavy. No matter, I'll keep the system in place because i like the sound and the increase in performance whether percieved or actual!
