The UMI heavy duty tunnel brace reinforces the tunnel area and reduces chassis flex by replacing the weak factory stamped steel brace. Reinforcement of this area is critical because of the drive shaft carrier bearing location. The UMI tunnel brace is fabricated from CNC machined 3/16” thick mounting plates, rectangular tubing and MIG welded. The tunnel brace is a 100% bolt in application and uses existing factory mounting holes. Installation requires basic hand tools and can be completed in less than a half hour.

2010-2011 Camaro/2008-2009 G8 Tunnel Brace Installation Steps

Locate the factory tunnel brace in the center of the vehicle. Using a 15mm socket and ratchet loosen and remove (4) bolts attaching the tunnel brace to the vehicle. Save all bolts to reinstall new UMI tunnel brace.

Once the factory tunnel brace is removed the difference in strength is very noticeable. The factory brace is thin stamped steel plate while the UMI brace features 3/16" thick mounting plates and 1" x 2" rectangular tubing.

Use the factory hardware and install the UMI tunnel brace into the existing holes.

Using the 15mm socket and ratchet tighten all (4) bolts. Installation is now complete.
